ne for quartz
Not sure if this matters so much for problem one, but I am reading that for quartz, ne is greater than no and thus quartz is positive uniaxial. In the problem, ne is 1.533 and no is 1.544, characterizing a negative uniaxial crystal. In Hecht ne for quartz is listed as 1.5534. Are we to use the value in Hecht or the one as stated in the problem?
